Title: My experience with Niacin, including monitoring Liver test of AST/ALT

Review: Ive been taking 3 doses of 1,000mg each morning mid day and night (3,000mg total) the last several years.

It’s helped by cholesterol in a HUGE way.

Here’s what I learned
1) at first I was shocked by the flush. Not deterred I investigated.
a) take it with meals
b) delay drinking coffee
but I evolved, leading to
c) I take B-50 pills for each dose of NIACIN; the B-50 reduces the flush to nothing
I get no flush now; even when I drink coffee immediately

2) Liver Enzymes (AST, ALT)
Were as high as 50-60
a) I lost 40 pounds
the AST/ALT dropped in spite of the Niacin
b) taking choline supplements
Niacin depletes choline; choline deficiency will raise AST/ALT
For my dosage of Niancin, Im taking 2000mg of sunflower based lecithin, which has lots of choline. I also eat one egg yolk (range free) per day and I eat liver once in a while.

Hoffer’s book mentions liver enzyme tests and the results of using high dose niacin. Also mentions use of lecithin to reduce AST/ALT levels. Slightly elevated AST/ALT levels dont mean liver damage in case of niacin, it means liver is working and you need some more choline.

My cholesterol and AST/ALT are fantastic, never been better..ever!

Title: I cannot praise it enough.

Review: How do I adequately praise the work of these scientists and doctors? I bought this book in a effort to help my teenage daughter with a catalogue of health and emotional issues. She had suffered from C. dificil as a small child due to multiple antibiotic allergies. At 15, she had cystic acne, rosacea, insomnia, severe adversarial behavior, and menstrual irregularities. We have been to acupuncturists, naturopaths, and conventional doctors. One day into megadosing niacin and she stopped being offended at the drop of a hat, walked around singing with her brother, and stopped obsessively checking her skin in a mirror. Two days into dosing, she reported better concentration, social interactions at school, AND THE ACNE ON HER BACK IS 50% BETTER. Yesterday, I started giving her Dr. Ruth Harrell's dosages of nutrients for learning disabled kids plus the niacin. This morning at eight a.m., all of the acne on her back is healed, her face is 35% better, and she slept.

All of this suffering because she had global subclinical malnutrition. It cannot be done with diet alone. We eat a no sugar, low carb, organic, low dairy paleo diet.

Title: Help for mental illness and alcohol addiction

Review: I read how the author treated Bill W. the founder of A.A., for his depression with Niacin, and wanted to learn more. As someone who has dealt his whole life with alcohol and depression, I found this book a great resource. I started to take niacin and high doses of C, that he recommended as well have a good multi-vitamin; and it change my life. It was like someone flipped a switch. The desire for alcohol went away. So did the depression.

I would also recommend "Doctor Yourself" by Andrew Saul. He also has a good web site by the same name. I hope that this information helps someone as much as it has helped me. I wish I had found this out much sooner in life, but better late then never.

Title: Niacin can rescue heart, mind, and much more...please read this book!

Review: Niacin (also called vitamin B3) in mega doses has removed mental illness from my 39 year old son. When he takes niacin he does not need powerful antipsychotic schizophrenia meds. He doesn't mind taking daily vitamin B3! I call that a godsend. Dr. Hoffer researched the anti-psychotic effect of mega doses of this important vitamin. When given in large daily doses the patient's mind returns to normal after a few weeks. I was delighted to see my son regain his normal mind after 6 weeks of taking 1200 mg niacinamide per day. I gave him niacinamide because it doesn't have the 'flush' effect of niacin (I wanted to make sure he would continue taking B3 every day. He also took B-complex vitamins after telling me he learned that B-vitamins need to be balanced for best effect.)
Many persons have a chronic deficiency of vitamin B3 that requires regular niacin supplementation. Similar to other vitamin deficiency diseases, when one replenishes a lack of niacin, good health returns to both body and mind.
This book gives an eye-opening account of the surprising ways niacin helps the human body.. I had to wait 19 years to find this answer...I'm grateful Dr. Hoffer (he lived well into his 90's) made pioneering research and wrote this valuable book about the wonderful benefits of niacin.

Title: A Game-Changer!

Review: This is an awesome book! I have already seen significant benefits to my overall health in general and my skin in particular. If you want to hear the true story and not just the medical narrative on high dosing niacin, then this book is for you. Do you—or someone you love—have heart disease? Osteoarthritis? Mental illness? Alergies? Alcohol addiction? Depression? Anxiety? Migraines? If so, I highly highly recommend this book! It is a game-changer!

Title: Great book. Niacin the key to life after bypass

Review: The doctors operated. They scared me with facts. They gave me drugs to poison me because my cholesterol is high. But I never took it. I knew I had to find the cause. I think I have found the cause through reading many books on statins, etc. But I needed a fix. Food alone is great but not enough. Niacin was the key. But I needed proof. This book is proof. Today I started niacin. And I'll work my way to 3000 mg per day. In three months I am supposed to visit my drug pushing cardiologist. I'll cancel the very expensive consultation and email him my cholesterol results.
